This is a home made plywood canoe, 15
feet long, with 3 seats, suitable for 2 adults
plus one child. I built this canoe during the
summer and you can try it on the water before
you collect it. My hobby is canoe building, and
this has been my best canoe yet. It is a
traditional Canadian prospector
, with three seats, and tumblehome sides, built
in exterior plywood with glassfibre and
resin seams inside and out. It is
stained in dark oak, and finished in a
hardwearing exterior varnish said to outlast
yacht varnish. It is very steady and
directionally stable. It is solidly
built, and quite heavy ( around 45kg) and can be
carried on a roof-rack. I use a pair of
pram-wheels as a trolley when moving it and
launching it on my own,
I don't want you to buy it
without first trying it on the river (
we have a river at the bottom of the garden).
You will fall in love with the steady feel, the
way it sits on the water, and the way you can
enjoy paddling it. Children love it, as it is so
steady, and it is big enough for them to move
about a bit.
I am not a professional canoe builder, and
there are some imperfections, but no leaks, and
you will have a boat which you will enjoy using.
I can also show you how we make the boats. The
photographs taken in the workshop are before the
boat was completed; I have used a
tough boat varnish on the boat; it has a
dark oak stain ( including on the rubbing
strakes)
Reason for sale ? I really
don't want to sell it ( hence the starting
price) but need the money! We'll miss it (
but we will be making another one!) NOTE: there
is no reserve, other than the £300 starting
price.
